VOTE FOR ME
(Politicians' shit)
Ample mouth, teeth shining bright,
there he is,
in the centre of the stand
surrounded by other
birds-of-the-feather, kith and kin,
all smiling a cloned smile;
hysterically waving flags
and banners,
scores of scantily-clad
different kind of birds,
silicon and peroxyde
softskinned cheerleaders
shouting his name,
jumping and waving arms
and screaming like mad,
giving away buttons
with his colours
and his incidental jack
while throwing confetti,
ribbons and flying gas-balloons.
. . . . . . . . . . .
One, two, three,
one, two, three, four,
knock, knock
echoes knock knock...
Silence suddenly breaks the cheers,
six loudspeakers hum.
He spreads his arms and eyes wide:
Thank you, thank you, friends, for coming
in this sunny day...
The microphone cannot pick up
thoughts running wild in his brain:
'With just a bit of luck
all this money will soon be back,
and much more will come.
Tomorrow I'll be seeing
the manager of the bank'

Hi Argie
Firstly. I love the action of thise piece and the way you have chosen words that draw the reader in without distracting from the theme of it all. Brilliant mate.
I don't know if this unique to me and because I work so much with media, but upon first reading of this I had the words of Electioneering by Radiohead coming through. This is not an insult, it's fine praise and I commend you for creating that awareness for me.
I've smoked a few joints this evening, so may not be feeding back fully on this piece. Hopefully the other fine writers on here will give you some positive feedback on it too.
Thank you for sharing Argie. Great writing and a topic always close to my heart. I too dislike politicians, intensely...
Best wishes

Hahaha, no IMF nor electrical prods here, not yet... He's just began the campaign. If he wins and gets the taste of power, then...it might be. Not now. Now's all fun, cheerleaders and free popcorn. Thank you Lugh
