Postby Lauren Arthington » Tue Sep 23, 2008 6:27 pm

I'm Lauren and i live in a lovely town called Hebden Bridge in west yorkshire.

i write poems, play Brazilian percussion, sing jazz and folk and enjoy a good old argument!

i may post up some of my poetry when i'm feeling brave! my poems are modern, funny tales of love, life and all that jazz.

welcome aboard lauren :D i look forward to reading some of your work. i'm involved with film production and music myself, as well as running this community. i think it fair to say that the more art there is the healthier we'll be as a species. it seems to be a primal scream / need :) ...

i love that picture btw. superb use of filters, unless you're actually that colour in real life. in which case, may i welcome you as our first official green member  ...

Hello Sensitize!

My thanks to Louis aka Lugh for inviting me to join this site, and a big hello to everyone.

My name is Kylyra (the first 2 syllables rhyme with sky) and I'm wa-a-a-ay down the Sheeps Head Peninsula in West Cork. I'm a mongrel, though: German/Irish descent, moved over from Canada, and schooled in the states. So when people ask me where I'm from I generally answer, "Same as you, planet Earth!". :D

I am a signed recording artist with the indie label Dark World International, and have releases as a solo artist and with my (current) band Deemed Psychotic and (old) band Stygian Tars out on iTunes. I'm also an author, poet, and video director. I'm a manic little monkey!

I'm planning on heading up to Dublin sometime in May and would love to hook up with anyone who's available to say hello in person, have a pint (or coffee, I'm not prejudiced!), and a chat. I'll let you know the dates when I get it solidified!

Hello there ... and blessings to y'all!

Lugh invited me here, and I am happy to accept, partly because of his response to some of my writings, partly because he's Irish, and so am I (up to a point - ie: it's an accident of birth and not to be taken too seriously... cough cough.... all elite family members TAKE NOTE you silly TWATS!...) and partly because I am always delighted to connect with creators whose conscience is such that nothing less than empowering, enflowering, life enhancing art is due in reponse to the gifts we find ourselves imbued with - gifts for which, on a personal note, I cannot claim anything other than the use of, and with that comes a sincere gratitude for same. Bless the life that leads me thus.

I have spent most of my life singing, imagining, writing. All of my adult life has been devoted to unravelling my own story, it's been an interesting journey (for me at least, if not for others).

My main focus has been to understand exactly how humanity has veered so far from the path of the natural child, and to articulate that understanding in ways that parents, children and all people can utilise as a recognition process. Recognising our natural selves.

I am a not-for-profit artist.

I tend towards the view that if a performer has the ears and eyes and hearts of an audience, then respect and current circumstances determines that honouring those gathered demands honesty, courage and fearless work that seeks to free the mind, warm the heart, soar the soul and send shivers of fear down the spines of those who seek to exercise adverse power over others. I call that exercise POWER. If you read my work and see POWER, now you know what I am meaning.

I have been placing my music on-line, for free, since 1998. I don't sell cds, because they are unrecyclable and rather fragile. I love perfomance, for it allows my soul to connect and places me before my peers, face to face. Something rather special happens in that environment. And it ain't stardust! I love fireside gigs, in fields and woods, for that recalls ancient practices of humanity.

You can hear my music at my website, and on various on-line sites.

It is my intention to always facillitate a complete de-conditioning in all I meet, and at the same time, be compassionate enough to allow what is in each person I meet, to trust the deeper movements of life in all beings.

I am nature before I am 'civilised', and if there is any wisdom, it is being oneself....

I hope our meeting and sharing will bring us insight, laughter and a deeper resilience to the travails of being born into this industrialised society.
Kindest regards
Corneilius
