Anyone For Sushi?- Check out the news today folks. Alexander Litvinenko, another opponent of Russia's President; Vladimir Putin, is believed to have been poisoned at a sushi bar in London.
Alexander Litvinenko is said to have become very ill after meeting a contact while investigating the murder of Anna Politkovskaya in Moscow last month. To read more about her death click here.
There really are serious dangers when censorship is exercised and I personally believe the scum who frequently perpetrate it by gagging anyone who speaks out against injustice should be exposed.
Unreasonable censorship is a disease running through the core of creativity and freedom of speech. It's a cancer. It also chews and gnaws like a rat through every attempt to gain liberty and I know from my own recent experiences with a few writer's communities who support censorship, that it's an act of very sick and weak-minded people.
I also freely admit that on a few occasions I have been coerced into playing down or silencing my investigative journalism and freedom of speech / thought here on Sensitize and I hate that I allowed this to happen. I also remember how the former Sensitize on MSN was closed down by similar people with their censoring and critical agendas. My only fear was that this happened again.

I almost daren't comment. I know you posted this as a serious piece but as a semi-professional fool I can't help but see the funny side. Do you not realise how much comedy mileage can be found in the headline "Man poisoned at a Sushi-bar" contains?
I could go on about this one all day.

Yes, I have posted this as a serious piece Dave and yes, I do see the potential for comedy with it all. However, censorship is an issue that affects all writers struggling to have their work published and/or read by an audience. I'm one of those writers and fully know from my own experiences mentioned in my original post above, that the censorship I was put through served no-one except a few visionless fools who have been over-indulged for way too bloody long.

Try being arrested and detained for possession of a sausage supper and book of poetry outside Bradley's Taxies on William Street, Derry. I resisted arrest and was violently bundled into one of their carriers (grey Landrover) then eventually bound over to keep the peace for a year. I got a criminal record for nothing.
The anarchist in me got my own back on them though. During my detention, around 5am, I rang the cell buzzer and asked what had happened to the watch my Dad bought me for Christmas. They claimed I didn't have a watch when I was arrested. This was true but I argued that I did and got the silly feckers to go back down to William Street and search for it in the dark.
The way I see it; they wasted my time first...

I've eaten at a Derry takeaway and although I found the food served was slightly anti-social my supper was not "offensive" in away. That honour is reserved for the fish served at the infamous McHonky's in Worcester.
Perhaps it was the poetry that the plod found offensive?

Darn it. I've digressed again.
On the subject of cencorship? When I was university there was an anti-cencorship society that helped choose the books and publications for the library. I went to one of their meetings and after listening to them harping on about getting books written by subversives I asked them why there was no longer copies of The Daily Telegraph available in the Library. They told me that was because it was "Tory Propoganda" and asked me to leave the group.
My parting shot to them was that most of the books they wanted weren't in the library because they were sh*t not because they were cencored.

LOL..! Now there's a possibility. Although I find it hard to believe the average wellie-boot wearing pig-farmer from the arse-end of Ballymena / partime RUC constable (now thankfully resigned to history) would have the wisdom to be a literary critic...

Yes, but wasn't Tony Blair the Student's Union representative back then? He wouldn't have wanted anything Tory there in case people drew similarities between himself and them...
