I was at a party in Hammersmith back in the summer of 88. I was chatting to a gay bloke from the North of England. We were roughly the same age. I asked him how he lived his life freely when so many people hated his type. He smirked, sipped his beer and said:
'You should know luv. You're Irish!'
Then he blew me a kiss and tumbled out onto the crowded dancefloor as the whole place throbbed to Blue Monday...
